STEVE AOKI

Saturday, August 19

Get ready for cake, champagne and inflatable boats in the audience. This guy is an experience for the history books.

American award-winning legendary DJ/producer Steve Aoki started building his empire early. It can be traced back to his college years when he sang and played in bands, and ran his apartment as an underground scene. But the apartment, "The Pickle Patch," had to be promoted somehow.

His DJ career started as a way to spread the word about the chaos in his apartment and earn some extra cash. He had to pay off a tiny debt of six figures after he started his own record label, Dim Mak Records. Aoki both practiced and played gigs, and he himself says that he sympathizes with those who witnessed the inexperienced mixer. The wait and the deafening commotion were worth it – in absolutely every way. Today he is number 7 on the DJ Mag Top 100 of the world's best DJs, one of the world's richest, but also the world's hardest-working DJs.

Japanese-American Steve is truly one of the greatest mixers on the planet. He has been nominated for and won Grammys and industry awards, topped charts across continents, and collaborated with almost every big name you can think of. We can go on a little tour for fun: Will.i.am, Alan Walker, Linkin Park, Tiësto, Snoop Dogg, Gucci Mane, Nicki Minaj, Backstreet Boys and many, many, MANY more. Incidentally, you can find him in the Guinness World Records for, among other things, “longest crowd cheer”, “most amount of glow sticks for thirty seconds” and “most traveled musician in one year”. The latter is thanks to his relentless work ethic and his average of 250 live shows a year. This guy knows what he’s doing.

Now Steve Aoki is taking the trip from the world's biggest festivals to the city park to turn Drammen upside down! Put on something that can withstand cake, champagne and crowdsurfing.
