JONAS BENYOUB (NO)

JONAS BENYOUB

Friday, August 18

A multicultural poet, Norgesstjerne, the artist's artist himself.

Good boy Jonas Benyoub has been in the music industry for over 10 years, but it wasn't until 2022 that his career really took off. There's no doubt that it was worth the wait, because as he says himself; "it takes time to build a house properly, unless you just want to pitch a tent." The Grorud boy started with singing and moved on to "yoyo-rap," before moving towards the melodic mix of culture and language that he blesses us with every day. This, combined with a unique talent for communication, makes him a born live artist.

Both Norwegian cultural heritage, Moroccan folk tunes and local Groruddalen vibes characterize his music. This constitutes a magical mixture that now has him kicking in doors and shooting at full speed towards the starry sky. The Atlas Lion has received the handshake of all the big hip-hop names you can imagine. As Tshawe Baqwa says so well: "He is the artist's artist. All their favorite artists point to that guy there."

After being discovered by Karpe, he released his personal debut album ZeroLove, which is a cry for love and includes a tribute to his beloved parents with the song "Spor i snøen", which at the time of writing has over 2 million streams. His album also contains gems like "Mamma sa" and "Roser på graven", and deserves far more attention. So do yourself a favor: sit down with earplugs and listen from start to finish. His future is brighter than an early May morning.

During the day, Jonas works at Forandringshuset in Ellingsrud, a youth recreation center where he has spent a lot of time. The kids there make sure his feet are firmly planted on the ground, and that he never forgets where he comes from.

Yallaværsegå, can't wait to see that guy on stage. It's going to be a show.
